The Rotary Club of Tallahassee is seeking fellow Rotarians in Tallahassee to volunteer as ReadingPal mentors for 25 at-risk K-2 grade students participating in the after-school program at John A. Riley Elementary School at 1400 Indiana St., Tallahassee, Florida for 25 weeks for one hour a week. Reading Pals may choose their Reading Day on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday from 4:30-5:30 p.m. There is a mandatory three hour training.

The Sunset Rotary Club of Tallahassee awarded Rotarian Elizabeth Chambers the Rotarian of the Year Award. Sunset Rotary Club Past President Sameer David was honored to award Elizabeth the Rotarian of the Year Award for her outstanding service to the club. Elizabeth is an almost 2 year Rotarian, Sponsored one new member, Paul Harris Fellow and a Benefactor Member. She met the criteria for this award due to her loyal dedication demonstrated by her level of attendance and participation in club activities, serving on the board of directors and service to her community. Elizabeth accepted responsible positions in the club and her performance exceeded club expectations. She lives a life that exemplifies fellowship and the ideals of Rotary as interpreted in the Rotary motto: “Service Above Self.”
Clubs from Rotary District 6940 and District 7020 have initiated a new partnership. Sunset Rotary Club of Tallahassee, Florida, US and Rotary Club Port au Prince/Champ de Mars of Haiti are looking forward to developing a Rotary relationship, fellowship and friendship to spread goodwill and bring clean water to the community of Dumay, Haiti.

It is not often that we get to celebrate important milestones, but we have reached one of our first such major milestones in the history of our club. June 6th, 2013 marks the 10th Anniversary of Tallahassee Sunset Rotary Club’s official charter date.
