Haiti Team Returns

Come join us for a big welcome home celebration! Please come to this meeting to learn how our team changed lives, educated a small rural community, and made life long friends in Haiti. Check out our new Facebook page TLHSunsetRotary to see some of the good work they did.

On August 10th, 2013 three of our Sunset Rotarians departed for Dumay, Haiti. They are installed water filtration systems, educated the community on the importance of safe drinking water, and initiated a long-term partnership with the community of Dumay.

Dumay, Haiti is a small remote community southeast of Port-Au-Prince. Water from the community wells is unfiltered and untreated. Left with no other choice, the residents knowingly drink the unsafe, contaminated water. Many residents are chronically ill with gastrointestinal diseases which renders their food program ineffective because they cannot retain nutrients. As a result, children are often sick and cannot attend school and adults are regularly unable to work because of their illnesses.
